Best Man's Duties
Best Man's Duties
Congratulations on making the cut! Your good friend, brother or someone very close to you has decided to chose you as his Best Man, and you don't just get to follow him around at his Bachelor Party to ensure that he has the night of his life - you also get to help with a few things wedding related.
The Groom has thought long and hard about who to give the Title to, and it's up to you whether or not you want to accept right away. You do have a few responsibilities and some costs:
• Plan and pay for the Bachelor party with the other Groomsman
• Rent and pay for your tux and go for fittings
• Attend rehearsal and rehearsal dinner
• Help bring in supplies and boxes for the ceremony and reception
• Help the Groom dress
• Make sure the Groom gets to the church/location on time
• Keep the Bride's wedding ring until the Ring Exchange
• Sign the Marriage license
• The Bride and Groom will give you a sealed envelope with the Officiants or Church's fee in it. It's your responsibility to pass this onto the priest/Officiant before the wedding.
• Sit to the Groom's left at the reception
• Stand in on lots of photo taking
• Dance with the Maid of Honor
• Make a first toast to the Bride and Groom.
• Arrange transportation or drive the new Husband and Wife to their hotel or the airport after the reception.
• Collect and return all formalwear on time
• Help Maid of Honor bring the gifts to the Bride and Groom's house
